Linee di ricerca: 1. Ruolo del DNA mitocondriale circolante (mtDNA) come molecola proinfiammatoria. Il mtDNA, quando rilasciato all’esterno delle cellule, può agire come pattern molecolare associato al danno e innescare una reazione infiammatoria. Il nostro gruppo analizza il contributo del’mtDNA all’infiammazione durante il processo aterosclerotico, e nell’invecchiamento fisiologico. 2. Identificazione  e di nuovi biomarcatori associati alle malattie cardiovascolari in una prospettiva di genere, e messa a punto di dispositivi ad alta sensibilità per il monitoraggio di tali marcatori. 3. Caratterizzazione della funzionalità mitocondriale nella risposta immunitaria associata all’invecchiamento.


Laboratori/strumentazione: Centrifughe e ultracentrifughe, strumentazione di base per biologia cellulare e molecolare, Real time PCR, ddPCR, Termociclatore, Cappa a flusso laminare, Incubatore CO2, Frigoriferi, Congelatori -20°C e -80°C. Accesso a laboratorio di colture cellulari certificato, Centro grandi strumenti.
